Kukurpeta is a Gram Panchayat of Chhendipada block in Angul district. APAA members from Kukurpeta used to regularly visit all Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) to increase awareness about Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) under ICDS and Mamata Yojana. APAA members have worked with the Anganwadi workers and CDPO to ensure that all the children get their Hot Cooked Meals and snacks on time and of the correct quantity.

In Chhendiapa, in Barapada gram panchayat, an issue of mismatch in quantity of eggs in Take Home Ration (THR) was resolved by empowering Jaanch Committee, Matru Committee and Panchayati Raj Institution members. The CDPO has been very responsive and helped to resolve many issues. The CDPO and Sector Lady Supervisor CDPO visited all AWCs in the area and also called a meeting of PRI members to discuss the issue. After a discussion, CDPO advised all AWW of the GP to provide correct quantity and quality of entitlements, as prescribed in the SNP guidelines.  These issues also came to the notice of the Panchayat Samiti Chairman of Chhendipada Block and he also directed the CDPO to undertake all the activities and services of ICDS in a systematic manner.

Now SNP (THR/ HCM/ Morning Snacks) service of ICDS is going smoothly in all gram panchayats of Chhendipada where APAA operates. Gradually, active participation of JC, MC, PRI and beneficiaries in ICDS is strengthening village community to avail their nutrition benefits on time and of good quality and correct quantity. APAA members observed that if community becomes aware about the guidelines of all programs, then every system can be streamlined in a better way. Awareness is the key.
